Guardiola Hints at New Arsenal Coach
Arsenal are making a grab for a new coach to bring glory back to the club, and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola recently dropped hints at who might be the next coach of the Gunners.
The 48-year-old former midfielder commented that Man City assistant coach, Mikel Arteta, is a leading candidate to take the top job at Emirates Stadium and help the “struggling” team, two weeks after Unai Emery’s exit.
Guardiola said: “[Arteta] is an incredible person, a good manager, that’s why he has done well with us. He is talking with Arsenal so I don’t know what is going to happen.”
Reports claim the 37-year-old Spaniard has been in contact with the London club, and City are looking for a seven-figure fee in compensation.
Caretaker coach, Freddie Ljunberg, is keeping the lights on in the interim, but Guardiola doubts Arteta can change “struggling” Arsenal’s fortunes any time soon.
Arsenal will be taking on Everton this Saturday, 21 December, at Goodison Park, Liverpool.
