Klopp Determined to Chase EPL Title

January 24, 2020

Liverpool are heavily favoured to win the English Premier League (EPL) title this season, and their recent 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday, 23 January, puts them a huge 16 points ahead of second place.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp says the fat lady has not sung yet. Just when it seemed Liverpool’s steamrolling victory train was about to falter due to errors and loose possession, they managed to gain a goal from Roberto Firmino with six minutes left on the clock, handing themselves their 14th successive victory.

The 52-year-old German coach gave credit to the fighting spirit of the home team at Wolves, but kept his focus on improving his side and keeping eyes on the title.

He said: “I don’t think about [winning the title]. I just think about winning the next matches [sic] … let’s carry on. It’s over when it’s over, not before.”

The Reds are currently at the top of the EPL log with 67 points, with Manchester City trailing behind in second place with 51 points, and third place is Leicester City with 48 points.
