Koeman Flexes Coaching Muscles

September 10, 2020

New Barcelona Boss, Ronald Koeman, has told a handful of his top players that they will not be sold during the current transfer window, and a few others that they will not feature in his plans.

The 57-year-old Dutch coach only recently took over on 19 August – after Quique Setien was dismissed two days earlier – and has been shrewd with his decisions in the past few weeks.

Koeman has thrown his weight around by informing players who among them will be part of his tournament plans – and who won’t be.

The Catalan giant’s three most expensive players – Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann – will feature in the club’s upcoming campaign.

However, the future looks uncertain for Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal and Samuel Umtiti.

The beleaguered club has had dark clouds gathering over its head after a shocking 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich on 14 August. Superstar Lionel Messi has shown a desire to leave but his contract means he will stay on until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
