Timo Werner Officially Joins Chelsea
Chelsea have gained several important signatures for the next season, but their latest is bound to impress fans.
The Blues first picked up 27-year-old Hakim Ziyech for €40 million – including bonuses – from Ajax in February. Now, it was just recently announced that the club just signed RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner.
The news was shared via both Chelsea’s official Twitter account and website on Thursday, 18 June.
The 24-year-old German footballer’s transfer cost €53 million, and he will be starting with the team next month. This comes after a successful stint with the Red Bulls, which saw him netting 93 goals and assisting 40 strikes across 157 matches.
While talking about the move, Werner expressed how “delighted” he is signing up with Chelsea, calling it a “very proud moment”.
The striker also remembered to thank his former club, saying they will “forever be in my heart”.
He concluded with: “I look forward to next season with my new teammates, my new manager and, of course, the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”
